Hess Scholarship Created for Belmont College Students

St. Clairsville, OH (August 16, 2013) - Officials with Belmont College announced today a partnership with Hess Corporation that will provide scholarship opportunities to students.The scholarship, known as “The Hess Corporation Scholarship,” will be awarded to incoming and current students enrolled full and/or part-time at Belmont College in an associate degree or certificate program. Multiple awards, valued at up to $3,000 each, will be awarded students.“Hess Corporation is committed to making a long-term positive impact on the communities in which we do business,” said Joaquin Martinez, Hess Operations Manager. “That is why we are proud to partner with Belmont College to offer the Hess Corporation Scholarship and aid in the education of future leaders.”The recipient(s) will be selected by the Belmont College Scholarship Committee, in cooperation with the Office of Student Financial Aid. Special considerations will be made to non-traditional students who are displaced workers returning to college in order to further their education and regain employment.Martinez went on to say, “This scholarship will open up opportunities for students not only in the energy industry, but in other growing sectors in the economy that the energy industry impacts such as business, healthcare, public safety, and information technology.”According to R.J. Konkoleski, Director of Development and External Affairs at Belmont College, “The Hess Corporation Scholarship at Belmont College is a model partnership in which the private sector provides funding to help educate men and women gain the highly technical skills necessary to do well in the emerging local economy.
