Noble County is the Hot Spot in Latest Weekly Permitting Report

12 new permits for horizontal drilling in the Utica shale were approved by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources last week, according to the latest report.

Noble County was the focal point in the latest round of permitting activity, with 6 of the 12 new permits issued for drilling there.  2 permits were for Belmont County, 2 more for Carroll County, and 1 a piece for Columbiana and Harrison counties.

That brings the cumulative permit total to 831, with 466 wells drilled and 122 producing.  The Utica rig count is 32.
