Recount of Votes for Youngstown Anti-Drilling Measure Finds it Still Lost

The Mahoning County Board of Elections says that there were 6,151 “no” votes, compared to 5,852 votes of approval. On Election Night, a total of 6,143 “no” votes and 5,839 “yes” votes were counted.
The extra votes are due to provisional ballots, which were counted on Tuesday.
FrackFree Mahoning Valley, which put the initiative on the ballot, asked for a recount, questioning whether vote counting was accurate. The group had to pay $2,475 for the hand recount of the approximately 12,000 ballots.
Mahoning County Board of Elections Chairman Mark Munroe said previously that it would not be unusual for the numbers to change slightly, but he did not expect a large variation.Click here to read more.
