Marathon Pipe Line’s 50-mile Cornerstone project is under construction and should reach Stark County next month as the company links Utica Shale wells and processing plants to its local refinery.
Marathon representatives gave an update on the Cornerstone liquids pipeline and related projects Wednesday at the Utica Midstream conference hosted by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce and ShaleDirectories.com. About 160 people attended the conference at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Marathon was one of three companies to give updates on Stark County pipeline projects. Spectra Energy and Energy Transfer gave presentations on their planned interstate natural gas pipelines, which are awaiting approval by federal regulators.
Marathon started building the Cornerstone pipeline around early May. It will carry natural gasoline and condensate from processing plants in Cadiz, Scio and Hopedale to the Canton refinery.
The project has two parts. A 42-mile section of 16-inch-diameter pipe will connect Cadiz to a storage facility in East Sparta. Then an 8-mile section of 8-inch-diameter pipe will run from East Sparta to the Canton refinery.Read the entire article by clicking here.
